Measures the effectiveness of treatment

Currently, the measurement of how well patients manage their diabetes is to test their HbA1c levels every 3 months. The industry realizes this test is not perfect and only shows the averages of blood sugars over a period of time. For example, the HbA1c of a patient with 30 blood sugar levels of 300 (hyperglycemic or high blood sugar) and 30 blood sugar levels of 50 (hypoglycemic or low blood sugar) would show the same HbA1c level as a patient with 60 blood sugar levels of a near perfect 125, yet the patient with high and low blood sugars is poorly managing their diabetes. The diabetes management portal stores all blood sugar readings and changes to dosage and insulin levels so patients and providers can measure the results of the changes made to these levels. By measuring the results of these changes in near real time, treatment and dosage levels can be best matched to improve blood sugar levels of patients thereby improving their health and reducing healthcare costs.

Patients upload these reports into S5Health's central system where the information is consolidated and normalized into the portal's database.
